Den proces, der ellers kan v\u00e6re en irritation i husholdningen, kan nu blive en afg\u00f8rende del af l\u00f8sningen p\u00e5 vores CO2-udfordringer. If\u00f8lge forskere fra Aarhus Universitet kan lag af kalksten og vulkansk aske fundet i Limfjordens undergrund hj\u00e6lpe med at binde CO2.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I det danske landskab under Limfjorden ligger mange lag af ask og mo-ler side om side &#8211; geologiske vidnesbyrd om tidligere tiders massive vulkanudbrud. Forskerne har opdaget, at disse askelag kan reagere med CO2 og omdanne det til kalksten, p\u00e5 denne m\u00e5de bliver CO2 bundet i undergrunden. Processen minder om det, der sker, n\u00e5r vores brusehoveder og kogekedler kalker til.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dette er en proces, der kan v\u00e6re en afg\u00f8rende del af den gr\u00f8nne omstilling, da CO2 opbevares sikkert og permanent. Geologisk CO2-fiksering beskriver en kemisk proces, hvor CO2 omdannes til karbonatmineraler (kalksten), der er naturlige og ufarlige.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Denne metode er allerede i brug i Island, men hvad der er nyt og sp\u00e6ndende for forskerne er det store volumen af askelag, der findes i Limfjordens undergrund. Dette betyder at CO2-lagring i denne skala kan blive en realitet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Undergrunden i Salling, Mors, og Thy er s\u00e6rlig velegnet til denne form for lagring, da den indeholder hundredvis af tynde vulkanske askelag 200-300 meter under jordoverfladen. Disse lag ligger begravet under flere hundrede meter ler, hvilket g\u00f8r det muligt at lagre store m\u00e6ngder CO2.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Projektet, kaldet C.ASH (Carbon-fixing by Volcanic Ash), er en del af det eksplosivt voksende globale marked for CO2-lagring. Markedet forventes at n\u00e5 en v\u00e6rdi p\u00e5 ca.\u00a0 350 milliarder kroner inden 2030.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">De f\u00f8rste analyser af omr\u00e5det omkring den vestlige Limfjord antyder, at det har et stort potentiale: Forskerne estimerer, at undergrunden kan omdanne op til 2,6 gigaton CO2 til kalksten &#8211; svarende til mere end 60 \u00e5rs samlet udledning i Danmark.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Selvom teknologien allerede er kendt og anvendes i Island, ser projektleder for Klimafonden Skive, Anne-Mette Langvad, store forretningsmuligheder for danske virksomheder, da der er mange steder i verden med vulkansk undergrund, der kan drage nytte af denne metode.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dette innovative danske projekt kan blive starten p\u00e5 et nyt gr\u00f8nt erhvervseventyr, der kan forts\u00e6tte Danmarks tradition for gr\u00f8n teknologiudvikling, der startede med vindm\u00f8llerne.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Denne proces kan ogs\u00e5 skabe nye jobmuligheder inden for teknologiudvikling og milj\u00f8videnskab i Skive-omr\u00e5det og det bredere danske samfund. &#8220;Der kommer en masse eksperter til at arbejde p\u00e5 vores egn,&#8221; forklarer Anne-Mette Langvad.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">C.ASH-projektet viser, hvordan de ressourcer, vi allerede har i vores undergrund, kan bruges til at bek\u00e6mpe klimaforandringer.
